Kaimuki Middle School Online Distance Learning

Dear KMS Music Ohana,

If you have been following the news, DOE schools are now closed until at least April 30, with online instruction being phased in over the next few days and weeks.  The Music Department will be delivering online content through the KMS Google Classroom system – all students should have an account – please make sure your students log on to their school GMail account so they don’t miss any critical information.

We also hope that students will continue to practice their instruments to the extent possible during this prolonged period.  If your child’s instrument is still in school, please email derek.fujio@k12.hi.us with the student’s name, instrument, instrument number, and location (especially if it was left in a location not its usual storage locker, i.e. N-building or a core classroom).  Right now, families and students are not allowed on campus for any reason, but we are looking for ways and times to organize an instrument pickup if necessary and possible.

If your child is unable to pick up their instrument or their instrument becomes non-functional over the course of the shutdown, there will still be a number of assignments and learning activities that can be done without instruments.

We appreciate your understanding and assistance during this time as we strive to get through the difficult situation while still teaching and supporting our keiki.

Mahalo,
Derek Fujio
